After going to the Setup screen and selecting that I want to boot from disk, it re-boots and then the recovery process starts. My problem is, when I insert the disk, it reads it for around 2-5 seconds then my laptop just switches off. Am wondering why this is?? Someone had suggested that it might have something to do with the sound card??? Why did you reformat the entire hard drive? That means there is virtually nothing left – no operating system, no acer recovery, no nothing. It is just an empty hard disk. You can’t recover your system with just a recovery disk. How is the computer to access your recovery disk when there is no acer recovery? You’re left with a dead laptop and the only way to get it running again is to buy a cd-installer of Windows. Since you’ve format the entire hard disk, you even deleted the acer recovery from existence making a recovery from the disk impossible. Instead of reformatting, you should have inserted the recovery disk and restarted. Everything will be restored to its factory settings but since you reformatted the hard disk there is no way.
