Lost recovery disk…?
I have an Acer Aspire 1690 laptop, and following problems I have had to use my acer recovery disks to restart my laptop from new. However what I thought was the 3rd and final disk for the job turned out to be the wrong disk, and I have no idea where the actual disk 3 will be. Is there anyway to download a copy of this disk and burn myself a new one?

When my recovery disk was not working, I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me one. It may have been free, S/H only. It was inexpensive. They did not give me an option to download.

Can I restore Vista on to disk drive after a reformat of my disk drive with Acer Recovery Management?
I want to install Linux over my Vista because it takes a lot of space to have two on one drive. I wondering if I can restore it back on to the hard drive at a later time if necessary with Acer Recovery Management on to a reformatted drive.
If you have recovery disks, or it looks like a hidden recovery partition , then at any time in the future you can run the AR management and you machine will be set up again as it was on the day you bought it.You will however have to do all updates again.

For example, to consumers of mental health services, it implies empowerment and greater resources dedicated to healing; to HMOs, it can suggest a means of cost savings when benefits cease upon recovery. This book considers "recovery" from multiple angles. Traditionally, Nora Jacobson notes, recovery was defined as symptom abatement or a return to a normal state of health, but as activists, mental health professionals, and policymakers sought to develop "recovery-oriented" systems, other meanings emerged. Jacobson's analysis describes the complexes of ideas that have defined recovery in various contexts over time. The first meaning, "recovery-as-evidence," involves the theories, statistics, therapies, legislation, and myriad other factors that constituted the first one hundred years of mental health services provision in the United States. "Recovery-as-experience" brought the voices of patients into the conversation, while "recovery-as-ideology" drew on both recovery-as-evidence and recovery-as-experience to rally support for specific approaches and service-delivery models. “bad file record signature” from partition magic chkdsk /f in recovery console reports unrecoverable errors
Its happened to 2 sata ntfs 750gb drives and i dont know why (maybe overheating or bad psu?) data recovery software works but needs 3 days to copy each drive!
Is there a quicker way to restore the drives?Is it the mft or boot sector or the partition table?Which is safe to restore or rebuild without losing the chance to do a slow data recovery if all else fails?
What about trying Norton Disk Doctor at reboot?Can Spinrite fix this?what about Partition Table Doctor boot disk?
Any advice much appreciated as I cant afford to lose this data as i dont have a backup with me.
Weirdly one of the drives had an old xp boot partition and was giving the same error and unreadable except with active@file recovery but when i tried to boot from that disk xp somehow repaired the first (active) partition in a few minutes as it booted and it is now ok while the second logical (650GB!!) partition is still unreadable but recoverable.
I guess I need some kind of Hard Drive Super Specialist!
As you do not have a backup the sensible thing to do would be to wait it out. But if you can not afford to do this spinrite is your only other option I can find.
If it was fixed before however it could simply be the partition table giving an incorrect reading because it is damaged in some way. Try fixing it with Disk Internals.
