Acer Pre-Owned Laptop Recovery Issues?

Ok, so I got an Acer Aspire 3100-1718 Laptop for Christmas, problem is, It was pre-owned, and I want to set it back to it’s factory settings. But I don’t have the recovery disk. I have a emachines recovery disk from my previous computer. Will that work? I really need to do a recovery. The computer’s memory is filled up and I don’t know what I can and cannot delete.

yeah acer is not a good brand i would try to get another. dont know how much you spent. a lot of places dont give a recovery disk. you either have to take it were you got it from or some like my wfes hp she had to make a backup onto her own disk when we got it. the one for your emachines would probably work as far as the xp or vista however if you are using the emachines you cant use the same cd key. if the one on your acer is the same oc as the emachines you can try to use the acer cd key code should be on bottom or sometimes will show up when you check your computers info. the other problem is the drivers, you dont have those. so you may run into problems with things working. my laptop would not even go online untill i ran my disk that had the drivers and downloaded both my wireless and ethernet.

i would recommend taking it back and going to bestbuy and getting there asus that is 1250 right now. i got it when it was 1000. the thing is awesome and comes with the cds and all. it is highly rated except for its resolution.

and if all the recovery is, is xp or vista cd then yes you can use. i was able to for my old laptop from the one on my desktop. and it works great. again it was just a oc recovery disk. and i was also able to put in my cd key code from my laptop. at least for me that worked. that was 3 years ago though. also again i had to download the drivers off the internet though. luckily i was able to get internet with using the internet driver for my desktop.

you may just have to buy a new oc cd for it. or again ask the place were you got it from.

Produced by Joe Henry, his Strange Weirdos collaborator, Recovery revisits Wainwright's back catalog and finds new meaning in the tunes he wrote as a young man. Henry supplies the expected dark arrangements, while Wainwright delivers the old songs without the implied wink and smirk of his youth. "School Days," the first track on his first album, was a wise-assed ode to youthful excess, a backhanded compliment to his own genius. At 60, the lyrics still sting, but the tint of mortality he brings to the performance makes the song take on a whole new meaning, more poignant than celebratory. "Drinking Song" is a talking blues, here accented by spooky slide guitar and oddly accented percussion. Wainwright wails and wrings unexpected emotion from a lyric that was once played for laughs. "Be Careful There's a Baby in the House" sounds more chilling in the light of Wainwright's acknowledged failures as a parent. His cautionary tale of the tribulations of parenthood ring particularly true in hindsight. When he tells new parents: "if your 'I love you' is an I.O.U, don't expect to get a good deal" the words take on added weight. "Motel Blues" from Album II, an ode to sex with an underage groupie, now sounds more desperate than amusing. Its country arrangement fits the song's forlorn mood as it strips away the romance of life on the road.
