Acer Recovery Disk?

I have an Acer TravelMate 4150 and I’m trying to reformat it. After going to the Setup screen and selecting that I want to boot from disk, it re-boots and then the recovery process starts. My problem is, when I insert the disk, it reads it for around 2-5 seconds then my laptop just switches off. Am wondering why this is?? Someone had suggested that it might have something to do with the sound card???
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
