how do you create back up disk (recovery disk) for an acer laptop?
i need to make some back up disk since the computer didnt come with any! I just need to know how to do this incase something happens to where I may need them
Most computers no longer come with the recovery disk, this is becasue computer now have a recovery partiton on the computer which actually do allow you to recovery without the use of the disc. But you still are able to create one set of recovery disc, Once you create them, you will not be able to create them again.

Ok so , i downloaded acer aspire 5315 series recovery disk of my computer , on to a disk for my laptop.
Basically it has started up as Linux?

It would seem like you have downloaded the wrong recovery disk, unless of course the system came with Linux installed originally.

There is RECOVERY partition on your machine specifically for that purpose. When you use the RECOVERY PARTITION of your computer, your computer will go back to the way it was when you purchased it. All of the filess,setteings you had before doing a RECOVERY will be reset. But before doing A RECOVERY you can back-up these files in the RESTORE and BACKUP dialogue. So Follow these steps:
*Go to your START BUTTON , in the lower-left hand corner of your computer screen,click it, then type in RECOVERY MANAGER. RECOVERY MANAGER will come up in the search. Click RECOVERY, Then choose the option to recovery your computer to its ORIGINAL FACTORY CONDITION. Also choose the option to back-up the files on your computer. To Back-up these files , you will also need a USB FLASH DRIVE. With this , once your coputer has been restred/Recovered you can put everthing back on your computer that was there before; like the pictures,music,etc.
Once you have RECOVERED your computer be certain to make A RECOVERY DISK yourself from your own computer. This can be found in the RECOVERY MANAGER also

Laptop won’t boot with dual booting?
I dual booted windows 7 with xp and for a while it worked. I had to restart it because i installed the security patch and when i turned it back on it didn’t boot or ask which OS to boot, it was just a blank screen after the acer screen. I tried using the startup recovery ( i think thats what it’s called) that’s on the windows 7 disk but it couldn’t fix it, any ideas what to do?
